Zero Harm - Health and Safety Culture

We are committed to achieving a zero harm mindset by cultivating a proactive safety culture where risks are eliminated through systematic planning.

At IIS Space, the delivery of exceptional high-performance workplace solutions starts with an absolute commitment to health and safety. IIS Space is certified to NQA ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 45001 standards providing assurance across Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety Management. Our focus is the well-being of every person involved in the project lifecycle, from our colleagues on-site to our clients and their future building occupants. Our clear vision is simple. All site personnel return home safe and healthy every day. We operate on the foundational belief that all injuries and ill health are preventable.

Our philosophy is to design health and safety into all project phases, from initial client consultation and procurement of materials to site mobilisation and project handover. Safety is built into our processes for recruiting specialist teams, securing supply chains, and managing the live operational business.

Communication Built in: Through disciplined communication and accountability safety is an integral part of our daily operational rhythm. Safety is highlighted at the start of every project meeting, client review, and on-site gathering. These safety moments occur daily and ubiquitously across our sites.

Individual Accountability: Every IIS Space employee and contractor is required to clearly understand, formally acknowledge, and sign their health and safety responsibilities. We hold ourselves and our partners accountable to the highest standards.

Risk Mitigation: We allocate time and resources in comprehensive risk analysis to understand the specific hazards inherent in our work. We prioritise resources to actively manage the risks, always focusing on prevention at the point of work.

Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continually improving our safety performance through open dialogue and shared data, ensuring that every team member is committed to a common plan of action that sets industry standards.

Modelling Behaviour: We understand that exemplary safety behaviour must be learned, practiced, reinforced, and celebrated. Through our defined safety programmes, we ensure safe behaviours are consistently modelled, tested, and shared by leadership and specialist teams alike, recognising safety leadership and innovation through formal internal and external award programmes.

Health & Safety Policy

Our Safety Framework

Environmental, Health and Safety Programme

IIS Space operates a structured Environmental, Health and Safety Programme aligned with Irish and UK legislation. This structured programme is implemented across all projects and monitored by our appointed EHS partner.

EHS Policy & Objectives: We are commitmed to maintaining safe workplaces, promote and ensure safety in the workplace, preventing injury and ill health, protecting the environment, and achieving continual improvement through measurable objectives.

Monitoring: All documentation, including the EHS policy, RAMS, Construction Phase Health and Safety plan, Preliminary Health and Safety Plan, audit reports and training records, are maintained within IIS Space’s compliance management system for review at any stage.

  • Clear definition of duties for project managers, supervisors, contractors, and site operatives, with oversight by the appointed PSDP and PSCS where applicable.

  • Comprehensive risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) completed prior to works by both the main contractor and sub-contractors, reviewed by our appointed EHS partner, and updated as conditions change.

  • All personnel must complete site-specific induction and hold appropriate training to include Safe Pass, manual handling and other relevant certifications.

  • Regular EHS inspections and audits conducted by Fiontar Group, with corrective actions tracked to closure.

  • Immediate reporting of accidents, near misses, or environmental events, followed by root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Project specific emergency plans established, communicated, and tested.

  • Waste management, noise, dust, and energy use managed in line with ISO 14001 principles.

  • Lessons learned in regard to audit findings e.g. issues with scaffolding, PAT testing, fire emergency procedures, housekeeping, dust and waste, shared across projects to strengthen overall performance.

“Safety is the absolute standard we uphold, ensuring zero compromise on the well-being of our teams, partners, clients and the communities in which we work”.

MICK JONES, Managing Director, IIS Space UK.
